1. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 Flonikol-O is an oral solution
1.2 This drug is a clear liquid colorless or with yellow color, water soluble and prescribed for oral administration. 1 ml of the drug contains 100 mg of synthetic florfenicol antibiotic.
1.3 The product is prepackaged in glass or plastic vials by 10, 100, 200, 250, 500 and 1000ml.
1.4 The drug should be stored with caution (see List B) in a dry place and protected from direct sunlight, within the temperature range from +5 ºC to +25 ºC. Shelf life is 2 years under specified storage conditions. After opening original packing, the drug should be stored in sealed containers and used within 30 days.
2. PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
2.1 Florfenicol antibiotic has a broad spectrum of antimicrobic effects and high efficiency against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurellamultocida, Haemophilus spp., Proteus spp., Enterobacter spp., Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp., Bordetella spp as well as against Mycoplasma spp. Florfenicol is active against bacteria strains that generate acetyltransferase and resistant to chloramphenicol (laevomycetin)
2.2 When administered orally, florfenicol is quickly absorbed by gastro-intestinal tract and easily penetrates into most organs and tissues. Bioavailability effect of florfenicol in birds after oral administration is 55%. After admission with drinking water therapeutic concentration of florfenicol in bird’s body is achieved after 20 minutes and retains in organs and tissues of birds for 24 hours. Florfenicol is eliminated from the poultry’s organism mainly with bile and manure.
3. DRUG USAGE PROCEDURE
3.1 Flonicol-O is used for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes against bacterial infections of farm poultry including colibacillosis and salmonellosis.
3.2 Flonicol-O is administered with drinking water: - in chickens under 4 weeks - 100 ml per 100 liters of water, which corresponds to a daily dose 20 mg florfenicol per 1 kg of poultry’s weight; - in other age categories of poultry - 200 ml per 100 liters of water within 3 days, and against salmonellosis - within 5 days. During treatment birds should take drinking water containing Flonicol-O. Prepare fresh medicated water daily.
3.3 Contraindications. It is restricted to use a Flonikol-O with severe impairment of hematopoietic system, liver and kidneys as well as with individual hypersensitivity to florfenicol. Do not administer Flonicol-O to hens-layers due to excretion of antibiotic with eggs. Flonicol-O shall not be used with other antibiotics, indirect anticoagulants, barbiturates, muscle relaxants.
3.4 Specific instructions. Slaughter of poultry treated by this drug shall be permitted not earlier than 6 days after the last drug administration. Poultry slaughtered before expiry of such period shall be used to feed flesh eaters or for production of meat and bone meal tankage.
4. INDIVIDUAL PREVENTION MEASURES
4.1 All works with the drug should be carried out with use of uniforms (coat, hat, rubber gloves). In case of accidental contact of drug with skin or mucous membranes it should be immediately rinsed with plenty of water.
4.2 Do not drink, smoke or eat during handling the drug.
4.3 After finishing work wash your hands with warm water and soap; Wash and dry your gloves.
4.4 It is restricted to use containers under drug for food purposes.
5. CLAIMS PROCEDURE
4.1 In case of complications after drug administration its use should be discontinued and reported to the Uzbek State Scientific and Veterinary Drugs Control Laboratory at: (700178, Tashkent, Karakamysh 2/4, No.1a,Yunusov str.) and to the drug manufacturer. Simultaneously samples of drug’s lot should be sent to the Uzbek State Scientific and Veterinary Drugs Control Laboratory samples expelled Series drug that caused complications in animals, with detailed description of complications.
