1. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1. Ringer-Locke’s solution is a drug as solution for injections, containing sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and glucose as active substances and water for injection.
1.2. The drug is sterile, colorless, transparent liquid without visible particles and pre-packed in glass vials by 50, 100, 200, 250, 400, 450 and 500 ml.
1.3. The drug should be stored in dry place, protected from sunlight within the temperature range 0 to +25°C. Shelf life is 2 years from date of manufacture under specified storage conditions.
2. PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
2.1 Ringer-Locke’s solution is isotonic in the blood plasma of animals, it regulates water and salt and acid-base balance in the animals body.
2.2 After injection the drug is rapidly absorbed in the injection site and distributed in organs and tissues of the animal.
2.3 The drug does not cause irritating effect to tissues
3. DRUG USAGE PROCEDURE
3.1 Ringer-Locke’s solution is administered in animals used for treatment of dyspepsia and other diseases involving dehydration and intoxication of organism, during blood loss, for washing wounds and eyes. It is also used for dissolution of various drugs.
3.2 Ringer-Locke’s solution is administered subcutaneously or intravenously in the following doses:
- in horses and cattle: 1000-3000 ml;
- in small ruminants: 100-300 ml;
- in calves up to one year: 200-400 ml;
- in lambs and piglets: 25-100 ml;
- in dogs: 10-200 ml;
- in cats: 5-50 ml.
Dosage and duration of administration depend on the weight of animals and severity of the disease. During subcutaneous injection the drug is administered fractionally in different sites.
3.3 Ringer-Locke’s solution does not cause side effects in animals and complications in recommended doses.
3.4 Use of Ringer-Locke’s solution does not exclude use of other drugs.
3.5 No contraindications for use of Ringer-Locke’s solution are established.
3.6 Animal products shall be used for food purposes without restrictions during and after administration of Ringer-Locke’s solution.
4. CLAIMS PROCEDURE
4.1 In case of inconsistency of the drug with requirements of this Instruction, its use should be discontinued and reported to the Uzbek State Scientific and Veterinary Drugs Control Laboratory at: 700178, Tashkent, No.1a, A.Yunusov Street. Tel. / Fax: 228-76-14, 229-30 - 47. E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org. Simultaneously unpacked drug package should be sent to the laboratory address with the drug in quantity previously agreed with laboratory including detailed description of the nature of complaints regarding its inconsistency with this Instruction.
